Robbie Savage says Wales manager John Toshack should make the first move if he wants the Blackburn midfielder to reverse his international retirement. Savage quit after being left out of Toshack's first squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Austria last week.
"They should be saying 'we'd like you back in the squad', because I feel I'm good enough," Savage said.
"I feel as though the phone should be picked up to me - if he [Toshack] does that then I'll go back."
Toshack has been cool on the subject of a Savage return, with the only hopeful noises emanating from the Wales camp coming from assistant coach Roy Evans.
It seems unlikely that former Real Madrid boss Toshack will make the first move, given the public criticisms that Savage levelled at his training techniques prior to the player's retirement.
"If we are both going to be a stubborn as each other, then nothing will happen," Savage added.

"I've got nothing to apologise about. I told the truth, I've always told the truth, and I do feel I was good enough to get in the 24-man squad that lost to a team [Austria] who are below Wales in the world rankings.
"Maybe I said a few things that were disrespectful, but what I said was the truth and the one thing I won't do is pick up the phone to John Toshack and apologise because I don't think I need to.
"I've done nothing wrong and I retired because I didn't want to be humiliated.
"Obviously, I'd love to play for Wales and people might say if that's the case then why don't I ring him [Toshack] up? But this is a matter of principle."
The Wales squad will hold a training camp in northern Spain, centred in San Sebastian, on 17-23 May.
