Davies may be fit to face England
WALES v ENGLAND
Wales midfielder Simon Davies should be fit to face England again
Kick-off: 1500 BST, Saturday 3rd September
Venue: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
Live coverage on BBC Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Radio Five Live and this website
Simon Davies seems set to shake off a shin injury and take his place in the Wales midfield for the World Cup qualifier against England.

The Everton winger, a 3.5m summer signing from Tottenham, should play as part of a midfield also including Ryan Giggs, Carl Fletcher and Carl Robinson.

Gareth Roberts, however, might not be able to play because of a bug.

Robert Page, Danny Gabbidon, David Partridge, Richard Duffy and Sam Ricketts are tipped to play in defence.

Ben Thatcher is suspended for the England game, but is in the squad for Wednesday's match in Poland and had failed to report to the training camp.

PROBABLE WALES XI

After the FAW complained to Manchester City a compromise was reached so Thatcher could be examined by a Wales-approved doctor at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Paul Parry, Mark Delaney, Danny Collins and Craig Bellamy are all out of the England match with injuries.

That has seen Cardiff's exciting 18-year-old attacking midfielder Joe Ledley called up from the Under-21 squad.

Ledley could well figure at some point, probably in his preferred wide left role.

West Ham's James Collins has surprisingly declared himself fit, but the centre-back is very unlikely to feature.

He has been out with a calf injury since pre-season, and may be selected for the Under-21s who play England at the Racecourse on Friday.

Wales squad to play England in Cardiff on 3 September and Poland in Warsaw on 7 September:

Coyne (Burnley), Jones (Wolves), Price (Ipswich), J Collins (West Ham), Duffy (Portsmouth), Edwards (Wolves), Gabbidon (West Ham), Page (Coventry), Partridge (Bristol City), Ricketts (Swansea), Roberts (Tranmere), Thatcher (Man City), Davies (Everton), Fletcher (West Ham), Koumas (West Brom), Robinson (Sunderland), Vaughan (Crewe), Williams (West Ham), Ledley (Cardiff), Earnshaw (West Brom), Giggs (Man Utd), Hartson (Celtic).
