Keane is vital to the Republic's World Cup qualifying campaign |
Roy Keane is back in the Republic of Ireland squad for the crunch World Cup qualifier against France at Lansdowne Road on 7 September. The Manchester United captain was rested for the recent friendly defeat by Italy in Dublin.
Robbie Keane and Graham Kavanagh are also named in the squad after missing the Italy game because of injury.
The Irish lead Group Four but France, Switzerland and Israel could all claim the automatic qualifying spot.
At the moment, the Republic head Switzerland by a point but the Swiss are at home to Israel on 3 September while France fans Group Four minnows the Faroe Islands four days before the Lansdowne Road game.
France have been strengthened by the recent decisions of Zinedine Zidane, Claude Makelele and Lilian Thuram to return to international football.
Republic of Ireland boss Brian Kerr is relieved he has a fully-fit squad at his disposal for what will be
his team's toughest test of the campaign.
 | Clinton looked well and played well against Italy, and Robbie rarely lets Ireland down |
"To the best of my knowledge everybody came through the weekend OK, with no information to the
contrary."
But of concern is the lack of first-team football his two main strikers Robbie Keane and Clinton Morrison have played so far this season going into the game, amassing just 121 minutes between them.
Morrison has since left his problems behind him at Birmingham with a 2million move to Crystal Palace last week, starting off with a 15-minute substitute appearance in the 2-0 home win over Stoke on Saturday.
"It is disappointing neither of them have played much, and I don't know what impact that will have when it comes to the game next week.
"But we intend keeping them very busy when they come in with us. We will give them plenty of football, and the training will be sharp, while the adrenaline around this game will have them at their best.
"As far as I'm concerned, Clinton looked well and played well against Italy, and Robbie rarely lets Ireland down. I think they will both be well up for it."
