Hodgson has coached Blackburn, Udinese and Inter Milan |
Roy Hodgson will start a two-year contract to manage Finland from August 2006, according to the country's Football Association. The 58-year-old former Blackburn boss, who is currently in charge of Norwegian club Viking Stavanger, led Switzerland to the World Cup finals in 1994.
Hodgson will replace Jyrki Heliskoski, who became caretaker boss after Antti Muurinen was sacked in June.
Heliskoski is expected to become Hodgson's assistant when he takes over.
Finland have never reached a World Cup or European Championship finals.
In the current World Cup qualifying campaign they are fourth in Group One with 12 points and 10 points behind leaders Holland.
