Northern Ireland striker David Healy will receive a one-match suspension following his controversial sending-off in the World Cup game against Wales. Irish FA officials had feared Healy would be banned for three games as it was thought he had been shown a yellow card and then a straight red.
However, Fifa confirmed the referee's report revealed the Preston player had been sent-off for two yellow cards.
Healy will miss Northern Ireland's game away to Azerbaijan on 9 October.
His first booking was for kicking down the corner flag as he celebrated putting Northern Ireland 2-0 up. Healy then got the second yellow for making a gesture to the crowd.
The game in Baku will be the first Healy has missed after making his debut in 2000 and playing in 38 consecutive internationals.
Tony Capaldi will also miss the next Group Six game as his booking on Wednesday was his second of the qualifying campaign.
Michael Hughes, the other Northern Ireland player to be sent-off in a dramatic night at the Millennium Stadium, has yet to learn his fate.
The Crystal Palace midfielder was shown a straight red card after a clash with Robbie Savage of Wales who was also dismissed.
His case has been referred to Fifa's disciplinary committee.
