 | WORLD CUP QUALIFYING GRP 6 |
Captain Aaron Hughes has urged his Northen Ireland team-mates to bounce back from their defeat against Poland when they face Wales on Wednesday. Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifying campaign got off to a poor start with a 3-0 loss at Windsor Park.
But Newcastle defender Hughes insisted: "We have got to keep our heads held high and we have got to be positive.
"Wales are as good as Poland but if we cut out the mistakes we have a chance of taking something from the game."
Hughes could revert to a central defensive role in Cardiff as Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez seeks to eliminate the errors that gifted Poland two soft goals.
George McCartney is available after suspension and Mark Clyde is a contender for the right-back role.
Tony Capaldi looks likely to retain his place, while Stephen Craigan and Mark Williams could be the men to make way.
