Goalflashes and major incidents

1919: The final whistle goes with England taking the three points, but it was far from a convincing performance from Sven-Goran Eriksson's side.

1917: Martin Stocklasa is denied an injury time consolation goal when he fires against the post from close ranger.

1915: A Thomas Beck volley looks headed for the net but Rio Ferdinand makes a good clearance.

1911: Kieron Dyer sets up Wayne Rooney, but the teenager cannot direct his header on target. Michael Owen and Danny Murphy then combine to line the Everton striker up, but his shot is blocked.

1906: Wayne Rooney comes off the bench for Emile Heskey. Moments later fellow sub Danny Murphy flashes a shot across the face of goal as the visitors look to add a third goal.

1847: Mario Frick continues to impress as he dances past a couple of defenders before slicing his shot wide.

1838: England double their lead through a free-kick from captain David Beckham. The midfielder curled the ball beautifully around the Liechtenstein wall to net his 10th goal for his country.

1835: A whipped in cross from Steven Gerrard finds Emile Heskey but his fine glancing header is brilliantly pushed away by keeper Peter Jehle.

1833: England look much more lively in the early stages of the second half and Michael Owen is set up by Kieron Dyer. The striker picks his spot but the keeper does well to save with his legs.

1816: The half-time whistle goes to bring to an end an uninspiring 45 minutes from England, who can consider themselves somewhat fortunate to be in front.

1810: David Beckham curls in a free-kick from 35 yards and Liechtenstein keeper Peter Jehle is at full stretch to turn it around the post.

1802: Emile Heskey finds himself one-on-one with the keeper but the forward fluffs the chance in front of goal.

1801: David Beckham beats the offside trap but with a clear run on goal he miscontrols and the chance is gone.

1757: England finally produce some quality and break the deadlock when Emile Heskey crosses for strike partner Michael Owen whose header finds the corner of the net.
Liechtenstein 0-1 England

1745: England push up for offside leaving Mario Frick in the clear, but when he finally gets his shot away it is straight at David James and the keeper holds on.

1741: Liechtenstein are showing they are no pushovers as they cause the English defence more problems. Thomas Beck shrugs off the challenge of Kieron Dyer before volleying just wide from a Mario Frick cross.

1732: Liechtenstein almost grab a shock lead against England when a Thomas Beck free-kick finds Fabio D-Elia, but his glancing header flashes narrowly wide.

1729: England kick-off their must-win game in Liechtenstein.

1724: The final whistle goes at the Millennium Stadium with Wales securing a comfortable victory that puts them seven points clear at the top of Group 9.

1656: It is all over at the Lokomotiv Stadium and Republic of Ireland secure a crucial victory in Group 10 thanks to Gary Doherty's late goal.

1650: The full-time whistle goes at Hampden Park and Scotland hold on to secure a vital three points and give Berti Vogts his first win since taking over as coach.

1644:Gary Doherty restores the Republic of Ireland's lead when he scores just five minutes from time.
Georgia 1-2 Republic of Ireland

1639: Wales grab a fourth through Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs.
Wales 4-0 Azerbaijan

1626: Scotland go back in front through defender Lee Wilkie when he powerfully heads home from close range.
Scotland 2-1 Iceland

1620: Georgia grab an equaliser at the Lokomotiv Stadium when Levan Kobiaschvili scores on the hour mark.
Georgia 1-1 Republic of Ireland

1612: Wales look headed for the three points as John Hartson grabs a third for Mark Hughes' side. Ryan Giggs crosses and the big striker controls the ball before firing into the top corner.
Wales 3-0 Azerbaijan

1608:Gary Speed heads home to double Wales' advantage. The skipper gets on the end of a cross from Mark Pembridge.
Wales 2-0 Azerbaijan

1604:Eidur Gudjohnsen grabs an equaliser for Iceland just three minutes into the second period. The Chelsea forward beats the offside trap and then keeps his cool to lob Rab Douglas.
Scotland 1-1 Iceland

1552: The full-time whistle goes in Yerevan with Armenia securing a 1-0 win over Sammy McIlroy's Northern Ireland side.

1547: Armenia take a lead with just three minutes to go through Artur Petrosyan.
Armenia 1-0 Northern Ireland

1528: Wales get off to a flying start as they go ahead in the first minute. The goal is immediately given to striker Craig Bellamy, but it looks as if Azerbaijan skipper Tarlan Akhmedov got the last touch.
Wales 1-0 Azerbaijan

1522: Damien Duff puts the Republic of Ireland ahead against Georgia. Lee Carsley hit the woodwork and Duff fired home the rebound - his third goal for his country.
Georgia 0-1 Republic of Ireland

1509: Scotland go ahead through Kenny Miller with his first goal for his country. The Wolves forward tapped home after good work by Graham Alexander on the right.
Scotland 1-0 Iceland

1417: Northern Ireland are struggling to breakdown the Armenian defence as the snow begins to fall in Yerevan.

1400: Northern Ireland kick-off their qualifier in Armenia.
