Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers York City pulled off an FA Cup surprise with victory over League Two side Rotherham in their first round replay.
The visitors had the better of the first half, going close through Stephen Brogan and Luke Ashworth.
Chris Smith headed York ahead on 66 minutes before Michael Rankine converted a penalty five minutes later.
Rankine scored his second with 10 minutes remaining to secure a second-round trip to Darlington.
The striker has now scored nine goals in all competitions this season.
Rotherham are sixth in League Two, 33 places higher than York in the football pyramid.
The Darlington-York match-up on 27 November, between two former Football League sides, also ensures that there will be at least one non-league club in round three.
