Northampton ensured there would be no FA Cup upset as they swept aside Forest Green Rovers to reach the second round.
John Johnson's spectacular 25-yard volley put the Cobblers ahead and Steve Guinan rounded keeper James Bittner to make it 2-0 before the break.
Rovers were handed a lifeline when Reece Styche was brought down by Ben Tozer, but Chris Dunn made a fine save from Styche's spot kick.
Sub Michael Jacobs latched on to Craig Armstrong's pass to seal the win.
Forest Green manager Dave Hockaday told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:
"We were better in the second-half but it all boiled down to the penalty again which was the fifth one we've missed out of the last six."
"We again found a way today to let them off the hook and we need to stop doing this by having more belief."
Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson tells BBC Radio Northampton: "Once we got the goal, we settled down and didn't seem under too much trouble.
"I said to them at half-time, be professional, but we were poor. It was a great save for the penalty.
"It was a little bit edgy at times, but I'm delighted to have a win. Had they scored that penalty, they would've put the pressure on us."
