Charlie MacDonald and Myles Weston both scored twice as Brentford fired in five goals to end Gateshead's hopes of an FA Cup upset in their first-round replay.
Ben Strevens smashed home the opening goal for the Bees before MacDonald doubled their lead with a neat header.
Graeme Armstrong pulled one back for Gateshead but MacDonald's second two minutes later eased home nerves.
Weston's 25-yard drive and tap-in made it five for Brentford before Armstrong scored his and Gateshead's second.
