Droylsden defender Sean Newton scored twice as the Bloods shocked 10-man Chesterfield of League Two to reach the third round of the FA Cup.
Bad weather and floodlight failure twice forced this second round fixture to be abandoned but Newton's goals either side of half-time settled it.
Striker Jack Lester had pulled the visitors level but was sent off after 84 minutes for elbowing an opponent.
The Blue Square North team now face Championship side Ipswich on 3 January.
