Southend needed two late goals to see off the challenge of non-league Telford in their FA Cup first-round replay.
Simon Francis marked his 100th appearance for the Shrimpers by prodding home a corner from close range after 74 minutes.
James Walker made sure of victory with a curling shot from 25 yards.
That came after Telford had missed chances through Andy Brown and Jon Adams and seen home keeper Steve Mildenhall make two magnificent saves.
