Craig Mackail-Smith's goal in stoppage time saved League One side Peterborough from a replay against Ryman Premier Division outfit AFC Hornchurch.
Hornchurch had gone close when Kris Lee fired over, before Posh's George Boyd had a shot cleared off the line.
The home side did put the ball in the net but Dean Green was adjudged to have handled Lee's cross over the line.
But substitute Mackail-Smith won it for Posh when he followed up after keeper Dale Brightly spilled Boyd's shot.
Posh will host Accrington or Tranmere in round two.
