An insider's guide to Burton
By Andrew McKenzie

MAN UTD v BURTON
Burton skipper Darren Stride
FA Cup third round
Kick-off: 2005 GMT, Wednesday 18 January
Venue: Old Trafford
Burton make the trip to Manchester United for their third round FA Cup replay on Wednesday.

Nigel Clough's part-timers are in the bottom half of the Conference but they more than held their own against Sir Alex Ferguson's side at the Pirelli Stadium.

But who are the players who will be going to Old Trafford in the hope of causing one of the great shocks in FA Cup history?

Burton skipper Darren Stride, who has spent the last 12 years at the club, gives BBC Sport the lowdown on the players who will be taking on the likes of Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

SAUL DEENEY - GOALKEEPER

He has been in goal for us since joining us on non-contract terms from Notts County, but you'll have to ask his agent if you want to know anything about him. He's always going off somewhere on trial - one minute he is going to Barcelona, the next minute it is Wolves or Burnley.

AARON WEBSTER - LEFT-BACK

Aaron joined Burton about three years after me so I know him well. He is the best full-back in the league, end of story.

ANDY CORBETT - RIGHT-BACK

He is our utility player as he can play up front as well. When Terry Henshaw broke his leg last year in the second game of season he came in and has deputised since then.

RYAN AUSTIN - CENTRE-HALF

You talk to Ryan and he just giggles. It doesn't matter what you say to him he's always got a smile on his face. Rooney will call him something and he will just laugh at him.

DARREN TINSON - CENTRE-HALF

He is the oldest player at the club at 36. He looks after himself well in every department - he gets the Brylcream out and is always doing his hair. He was the one that demanded a mirror in the changing room.

KEITH GILROY - LEFT WING

He's an Irish lad who seems to spend more time out of the country than in the country. He's exceptionally skilful and will be one for United to look out for. Of all our players he is probably the one that can turn a game.

JAKE SEDGEMORE - CENTRAL MIDFIELD

Has come from Bury and impressed so far, coming from the Football League he's obviously fit and a bit more professional than some of the players we've got.

DARREN STRIDE - CENTRAL MIDFIELD

The way I'd describe myself is knackered, old and past it. I am from Burton and occasionally I would go and see them when I was a kid but my team was Aston Villa.

CHRIS HALL - RIGHT WING

He's a great athlete and can run all day, but sometimes he doesn't know what he's doing. Some of the lads call him village - you read into that what you want, but he's a nice enough lad.

JON SHAW - STRIKER

He talks for fun - we just can't shut him up. Came to us from Sheffield Wednesday and was our top scorer last season.

SHAUN HARRAD - STRIKER

He is the complete opposite of Jon Shaw - you can't get a word out of him. But the two play very well together. Shaw is a bigger more physical player while Shaun tends to run the channels.

SUBSTITUTES

Andy Todd - Right wing. He is our Motson in disguise. He can commentate all the way through a game, he's a very funny guy. He could do a great job for the BBC.

Terry Henshaw - Right-back. Suffered a bad break at the start of last season when he was a regular in the side and has now battled back to fitness.

Dale Anderson - Striker. He's a lovely, Brummie lad and has the quickest feet in the world. He's got so many tricks and is a very skilful player. He's definitely one for Strictly Come Dancing.

Andy Ducros - Covers midfield and up front. They call him dwarf or midget because he's only 5 ft 2 in tall, so maybe he'll get the winner with a diving header.

Gary Rowett - He's only played a couple of games and pulled his hamstring recently. He's another lovely lad and obviously a proper professional.

NIGEL CLOUGH - MANAGER

He is very fair - he tells you if you are playing well and certainly tells you if you're not. He can lay into us when he wants to - it comes as a bit of a shock because he doesn't do it very often.

He has been fantastic for Burton, he's raised the profile and I don't think some of the players we have would have signed if he wasn't the manager.

He always joins in with training, his passing is still out of this world - too good for some of us.
