Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock launched a fierce attack on referee Graham Poll after the controversial FA Cup semi-final defeat against Arsenal.

Warnock branded Arsenal's 1-0 win at Old Trafford "a disgrace" - and pointed the finger of blame firmly at Poll after Freddie Ljungberg's decider.

Sheffield United were angry that Poll failed to give a foul when Sol Campbel clashed with Wayne Allison - then inadvertently blocked a challenge in the build up to the first half winner.

Warnock said: "It's my pet subject, referees. I am disappointed with refs.

"I shouldn't really say what I feel, but Poll was their best midfielder in the goal. I thought there was a foul before the goal, but they are given at one end and not the other.

"You heard him at the end. He loved every minute of it. I don't know why they smile so much.

"You saw him coming off at half-time and at the end. He smiled so much, he obviously enjoyed that performance.

"The game was one-sided. We can't do it all. We need help from other people.

"There was no justice. We worked hard without the help of the ref.

"I wished they'd have scored three or four and I'd not have been able to complain.

"We lost in the semi-final of the Worthington Cup at Liverpool when their goalkeeper Chris Kirkland should have been sent off.

"The referee then was Alan Wiley, who was the fourth official here, and they love every minute of it.

"The manner in which we have lost the game was an absolute disgrace."

Arsenal were indebted to a brilliant late save from 39-year-old David Seaman, recalled to make his 1,000th senior appearance.

He produced a flying one-handed stop from Blades substitute Paul Peschisolido and said: "Not bad for a 39-year-old!

"I thought it was in to be truthful. I got a hand on it and that was important. I had to get something behind it."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: Wenger said: "It was a great save and I am very happy he made it on his 1,000th game.

"It is a reward for all his hard work in training - he is an example of professionalism and to young goalkeepers.

"I have not made my mind up completely about next season but David will stay with us, certainly as goalkeeping coach at the club."

Arsenal's joy at reaching a third successive FA Cup Final was tempered by an injury to captain Patrick Vieira.

He limped off with a knee injury and now faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit for the Premiership showdown with Manchester United at Highbury.
