Sergio Aguero commits future to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has played down reports that he is set to leave the Spanish club in January.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Chelsea as well as attracting interest from several other top clubs.

"I have always made my commitment to Atletico clear and the whole world knows it," said the 21-year-old Aguero.

"One shouldn't pay too much attention to everything that comes out, the only thing I am doing is playing and thinking about the team."

Media reports have suggested that Chelsea are ready to offer in the region of £40m for the Argentina striker, who in one of the hottest properties in European football.

Aguero last year formed a devastating partnership with former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan that saw the club qualify for the Champions League.

But Atletico have struggled this season, while Aguero has been hampered by a groin injury.

The Argentine joined the Spanish side from Independiente for a club record fee of £20m in 2006.

With the Africa Cup of Nations taking place in January, Chelsea are set to lose strikers Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, while fellow forward Nicolas Anelka is out injured with a hamstring injury.
