Lionel Messi opened the scoring as defending champions Barcelona eased past Dynamo Kiev, but 10-man Inter Milan were held to a surprise draw at debutants Rubin Kazan.

Dejan Stankovic headed in the equaliser from Maicon's cross 16 minutes later, but after Inter striker Mario Balotelli was sent off for two bookings, Rubin had a host of chances to win the game.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho later described it as a "point earned, considering the circumstances".
Barcelona's 2-0 win over Kiev was far more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.
Messi opened the scoring after 25 minutes after a weaving run from the right, before Pedro made the game safe after a typically incisive Barca move.

Unirea Urziceni scored their first Champions League goal and earned their first point as they held Stuttgart to a 1-1 draw.
Dacian Varga curled a shot past Jens Lehmann after Serdar Tasci had fired the German side ahead in the fifth minute.
"This is the most important goal of my career so far," said Varga.
