"Let's be honest, in the last period of the game we suffered a lot. What I think we still have to work on a lot is to have more control, even in these tough games.
"They are not an easy team to play against, Juventus. But, nevertheless, we should have controlled it more and that's what I didn't like about the last part of the game."
Midfielder Frank Lampard admitted it was crucial that with the away goals rule coming in to play, the Blues managed to keep a clean sheet.
"We created enough chances to score more but it's very important we keep a clean sheet at home," said Lampard.
"Juve are a top team. We're past the group stages now and any team you play are going to cause you problems.
"But it's good we didn't concede and we have the chance to go there and cause them some problems.
"There were patches where we played well. We started very well but at times we maybe sat off a little bit."
Former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri was delighted with the warm reception he received from the home fans before the kick-off but rued the lack of an away goal.
"I have to say I was extremely happy with the reception, because it showed they had not forgotten me," he said.
"I spent four years here and I enjoyed them. I would like to thank them for the reception. But scoring an away goal in a match like this would have been better for us."
Ranieri, who left the Blues in the summer of 2004, was pleased with the display and relieved Juventus kept the margin at 1-0.
"We wanted to be playing at a high tempo from the beginning but it just didn't happen. Chelsea prevented it from happening to a certain extent," he added.
"I felt that we shut them down and went on the attack. Had we conceded a second goal it would have made our task even harder."
