Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini felt aggrieved following his side's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Celtic.
Goals from Shaun Maloney and Aiden McGeady gave Celtic victory with striker Guille Franco sent off for the visitors during the first half.
"We played well in the first half but Celtic took advantage of an offside position to score their first goal," said Pellegrini.
"I didn't see the sending off but it really changed the course of the game."
The result denied the Spanish side the chance to win Group E with Pellegrini's side finishing second behind Manchester United.
"I don't feel we have lost anything because we have qualified," he added.
