Frank Rijkaard said Rangers' defensive tactics caused problems |
Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard thought his side should have beaten Rangers more convincingly in the Nou Camp. "It could have been a result of 5-0 or 6-0," he said after his side managed just two goals with none conceded in the Champions League Group E match.
"We should have taken advantage, but I have to congratulate my players. They showed a good attitude and I was very happy with the result.
"It was very important that we got that early goal."
Barcelona had been critical of Rangers' defensive tactics when the Spanish side were held 0-0 in the reverse fixture in Glasgow.

And Rijkaard admitted that Rangers manager Walter Smith's decision not to alter his formation despite losing a goal after seven minutes had caused problems for his side.
"Glasgow kept defending a lot, which complicated things a bit for us," said the Barca coach.
"But we showed that we are the superior side."
Thierry Henry opened the scoring for Barca but rarely threatened Rangers again.
However, Rijkaard rejected suggestions that using the former Arsenal forward on the left of a three-pronged attack limited the Frenchman's effectiveness.
"He started on the left, but I think the most important thing is to have three strikers and that they all play well," said the coach.
Rijkaard praised the performance of Ronaldhino and said he substituted the Brazilian during the second half because he wanted to avoid the risk of an injury.
The coach also explained that Rafael Marquez had been withdrawn from the team just before kick-off because the defender was feeling unwell.
