GOALFLASHES AND MAJOR INCIDENTS (all times BST)

By Charlie Henderson

Player of the day: Shane started the 'beautiful woman' theme so deserves a mention but he'll not mind the fact that Cesc Fabregas - who was "magical" according to texting Gooner Paul Hindmarsh - gets your vote for orchestrating that Arsenal performance with a mark of 8.87. Wayne Rooney is Manchester United's best man and the ever-impressive Alan Hutton earns top billing for Rangers.

These teams meet again in a fortnight when Arsenal and Manchester United will be looking to wrap up qualification for the second stage. Thanks for your company tonight. It's time you went and enjoyed somebody else's company now... hopefully a beautiful woman, but if not try Ray Stubbs on BBC Radio 5 Live's 606 show from 2200 BST.

AS THE GROUPS STAND

Group E: Barcelona and Rangers remain locked together at the top of the group, but Lyon have cut the gap to them from six points to four points.

Group F: Manchester United maintain their 100% record and are three points clear of Roma.

Group G: This group's all a bit more congested. Inter are top, a point ahead of Fenerbahce and two clear of PSV Eindhoven.

Group H: Arsenal are bossing things and have a three-point advantage over Sevilla, plus an astounding goal difference of plus 11.

2135: Have your say on BBC Radio 5 Live's 606. Ray Stubbs is twiddling the knobs and dials in his studio and will be ready for your calls from a little after 2200 BST. Call him on 0500 909 693 or drop Stubbsy a text on 85058. You could even get saucy and see if he goes with any of that beautiful woman chat. No opportunity to get tapping on 606 as it's big time knackered today. Apologies for that.

2133: FULL-TIME Dynamo Kiev 2-4 Manchester United
That caps a grand night all round for Britain's teams. That's the third successive game United have struck four goals.

2132: FULL-TIME Rangers 0-0 Barcelona
Barca were happy with 0-0 and Ibrox is delighted.

"Watching Rangers tonight was a bit like losing your virginity. Very nervy and wish it was over so you can tell all your friends tomorrow."
Big Tony, in Derby, via text on 81111

2131: FULL-TIME Arsenal 7-0 Slavia Prague
Seven-sational. That is Arsenal's best home win in all European competitions and matches their best result under Arsene Wenger. It also makes it 12 straight wins for the Gunners.

2130: Barcelona are playing out time. They are happy with 0-0.

2128: GOAL Arsenal 7-0 Slavia Prague
Time for one more at the Emirates. Nicklas Bendtner picks up the ball on the corner of the box, drives forward, exchanges a one-two with Emmanuel Eboue and slots after recieiving a backheel from the Ivorian.

"My man is at Emirates watching Arsenal, and as his beautiful woman I've got a lot to live up to tonight!"
Janet via text on 81111

2126: Barcelona play the ball around with ease but they are constantly going sideways on the edge of the box instead of forward.

2125: Rangers break... and the break breaks down.

"The difference is that Arsenal make it last 90 minutes."
A Beautiful Woman, via text on 81111

2123: Thierry Henry's work is done and so too, it seems, is Barcelona's. They looked so threatening earlier, but are now just strolling through to full-time. Rangers are the better side at the moment... by a long way.

2122: Arsenal sub Tomas Rosicky hits the angle of post and bar.

2121: GOAL VfB Stuttgart 0-2 Lyon
Lyon wrap up the points with a goal from Karim Benzema, who is rumoured to be attracting the gaze of Arsenal.

2121: Into the last 10 minutes and a great chance for Rangers, but Daniel Cousin fails to find the target after latching on to a dropping ball.

2120: Changes for Manchester United, and a strange one as Edwin van der Sar is replaced by Tomasz Kuszczak. The Dutchman doesn't look injured. Danny Simpson comes on for Ryan Giggs.

2118: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 2-4 Manchester United
Ismael Bangoura lets fly from distance and his low drive evades Edwin van der Sar and nestles in the back of the net.

2115: RED CARD Fenerbahce
The Turkish side's hopes of leapfrogging Inter Milan at the top of Group G take a hit as striker Deivid is sent off. It is 0-0 at PSV Eindhoven.

2114: GOAL Roma 2-1 Sporting
Mirko Vucinic scores.

2113: Rangers are having their best spell of the game by a mile. Barcelona half clear and Lee McCulloch hoofs an effort from distance over the Barca bar.

2111: Fresh legs for Rangers with 20 minutes left on the clock. DaMarcus Beasley replaces Nacho Novo.

"Watching Arsenal last season was like making love to a beautiful woman: good build up but no end product, and at the end of the day everyone went home disappointed. Nice to see Arsenal have sorted out their scoring problem, because I certainly haven't."
Sean, via text on 81111

2110: Daniel Cousin whips in a low cross from the left which just evades the on-rushing Gers skipper Barry Ferguson. Agonising.

2109: Thierry Henry heads over for Barcelona. He really should have done better.

2108: GOAL Sevilla 2-1 Steaua Bucharest
Ovidiu Petre pulls one back for the Romanians with a lofted finish.

2108: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 1-4 Manchester United
Penalty for Manchester United after Goran Gavrancic handles a cross from Carlos Tevez on the edge of the area as he jumps to block. Cristiano Ronaldo steps up to slot.

2107: A rare break from Rangers and Alan Hutton's cross into the box is put behind for a corner. The hosts fail to muster much from the corner.

"Watching Arsenal is much more entertaining than making love to a beautiful woman.. or maybe I just married the wrong woman?"
Anonymous, via text on 81111

2103: Frank Rijkaard, who is wearing a wierd and wonderful combo of a leather jacket under a suit, gets a talking to from the referee. The Barca boss is in a talkative mood tonight and has found much to complain about. Clearly too much.

2101: This is set to be Arsenal's best result ever in the Champions League, and with the points in the bag they ring the changes. Off go Mathieu Flamini, Alexander Helb and Emmanuel Adebayor. On come Gilberto Silva, Nicklas Bendtner and Tomas Rosicky.

2058: GOAL Arsenal 6-0 Slavia Prague
Wengerball time at the Emirates. Arsenal break through Alexander Hleb down the left. The ball is worked through Emmanuel Adebayor to Theo Walcott on the right and his first time pass picks out Cesc Fabregas for a sweet finish. That's the best goal yet.

2057: GOAL VfB Stuttgart 0-1 Lyon
That's not great news for Rangers, although they have got Lyon to come to Ibrox in the last round of matches. Fabio Santos breaks the deadlock in Germany

2055: GOAL Arsenal 5-0 Slavia Prague
Arsenal slice Slavia open down the left and Theo Walcott caps the break with a fine finish, dinking the ball across Martin Vaniak and in at the far post.

2054: Rangers are defending deeper and deeper. Come the 90th minute they will be camped out in their own goalmouth at this rate... if not in the goal!

"Watching Rangers is like making love to a beautiful woman. Close your eyes, hope for the best and just pray Thierry Henry doesn't turn up."
Jim, in Glasgow , via text on 81111

2053: Manchester United are also looking for number four. Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney both go close.

2050: GOAL Arsenal 4-0 Slavia Prague
That's definitely one for Alexander Hleb. Cesc Fabregas finds the Belarus midfielder on the left and his low shot goes in at the post.

2049: Anderson side foots a pass from Wayne Rooney on to the woodwork.

"Anyone who compares watching any football team to making love really needs to get out more. But Arsenal are playing some good stuff.
MJF, in Macclesfield, via text on 81111

Talking about getting out, Francesco Totti doesn't. The Roma legend, who only lasted 35 minutes tonight before going off, told Sports Illustrated: "It's eight years since I went out in the city (Rome), and that was by night. I have not been there in the daytime for 18 years. It is hard to be Totti."

2046: Arsenal are the first of the Brits to get going, with the others quick in the slipstream. News from Arsenal is that the gurus of goals have decreed that Alexander Hleb didn't score the second but it was in fact an OG by David Hubacek.

Player Rater: Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney lead the way for the British teams with a score of 8.12. Honourable mentions to Cesc Fabregas, Alan Hutton and Carlos Cuellar.

"As expected, 4-4-2 isn't working out too well. Its hearts in the mouth stuff here at Ibrox! Something needs to change."
Rob McInroy, via text on 81111

"Manchester United look unstoppable tonight!"
Joe, via text on 81111

"Watching Arsenal is like making love to a beautiful woman. You go to sleep afterwards knowing life is good."
Shane, in Belfast, via text on 81111

2031: HALF-TIME
That's the break and all is sweet for the British trio. OK, things are a little bit testing for Rangers but they will be happy.

2028: Alan Hutton throws himself at the ball to block Thierry Henry's shot. Barcelona are building up a head of steam here.

2026: Bodies everywhere in the Rangers box and the men in orange claim a penalty as Ronaldinho's shot is blocked. A hint of hand from Alan Hutton? Not according to the man who matters, Austrian Konrad Platz.

2025: GOAL Arsenal 3-0 Slavia Prague
And a third for Arsenal. Theo Walcott caps his Champions League debut with a goal following a cock-up of a clearance from Martin Vaniak. The keeper plays Daniel Pudil's backpass straight to Walcott, who keeps his cool before picking his sport from outside the area.

2024: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 1-3 Manchester United
The easiest of headed goals from Cristiano Ronaldo who meets a Ryan Giggs cross with clinical precision.

2023: Allan McGregor pushes a Carles Puyol header behind.

2020: Kevin Thomson's wee tug on Thierry Henry is spotted by referee Konrad Platz and the Rangers man is booked. That means he will miss the return match at the Nou Camp on Wednesday 7 November.

2019 That's the first goal Manchester United have conceded in Europe this season. Arsenal, Barcelona, Marseille and Shakhtar Donetsk are now the only teams who can boast a '0' in their goals against column.

2018: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 1-2 Manchester United
Out of nothing, hope for Dynamo. Diogo Rincon thunderbolts a header in from distance from Carlos Correa's corner.

2013: Theo Walcott hasn't really done much until he picks out Emmanuel Adebayor with a pinpoint cross. The big man climbs well but Martin Vaniak saves with his legs.

2012: Plenty of goals, but none in Group E. But that suits Rangers. It would be nice to keep VfB Stuttgart and Lyon at arms length.

2009: GOAL Arsenal 2-0 Slavia Prague
If the first Gunners goal was sumptuous, the second is distinctly scruffy. Slavia fail to clear a corner and Alexander Hleb slams in the free ball at the back post which goes in off defender David Hubacek's outstretched leg. On closer inspection it goes down as an own goal.

2008: Allan McGregor tips a wonderful Ronaldinho free-kick on to the crossbar. More good news for Rangers is that the officials didn't spot the stoppers touch so they don't have to contend with a corner.

2005: GOAL Roma 1-1 Sporting
Goals galore in Manchester United's group. Liedson levels for Sporting.

2004: Almost a third for Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo hits the turbo button and races down the left, but nobody can get on to the end of his low cross into the box.

2003: GOAL Sevilla 2-0 Steaua Bucharest
Luis Fabiano surely wraps up the points for Sevilla after beating the offside trap and a defender on the line. Seven games going on and two of them look done and dusted before the 20-minute mark.

2002: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-2 Manchester United
That's that then. Wayne Rooney has a simple finish after a sweet United break that culminates with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wes Brown playing in the number 10 - who is also enjoying a gloal glut these days. What's that? Seven in six for Rooney now.

2001: GOAL Roma 1-0 Sporting
Juan heads in David Pizarros' cross.

1958: Thierry Henry strolls through the Rangers rearguard but takes the wrong option on the edge of the area. The Frenchman plays in Lionel Messi on the right instead of Eidur Gudjohnsen on the left and the blue-shirted hosts clear.

"Let's show europe how good the Scottish game is now and triumph tonight and all but seal the last 16."
Gary, in Airdrie, via text on 81111

1956: A booking for Mathieu Flamini, who is sporting ever more luxuriant locks these days. The Frenchman flies in with an incredibly high challenge on David Hubacek.

1954: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-1 Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand is in the goals these days. Two in two for the defender who climbs well to meet a Ryan Giggs free-kick with a thumping header.

1953: The website's clunking along the information super highway like an old banger tonight. Apologies for the uncomfortable ride, hopefully things will be a little bit sleeker from now on. Keep your fingers crossed.

1950: GOAL Sevilla 1-0 Steaua Bucharest
Another goal in Group H and Frederic Kanoute gives the Spaniards the advantage.

1949: GOAL Arsenal 1-0 Slavia Prague
A first goal of the evening games and it's a sumptuous strike from Cesc Fabregas. Played in by Alexander Hleb on the left of the area he curls a delightful shot beyond the diving Martin Vaniak.

1947: Ismael Bangoura slams in an early shot for Dynamo Kiev but Edwin van der Sar saves comfortably.

1945: We're up and running.

1943: The players are out and apparently the problems with 606 have spread across the BBC with virulent speed and you are all out as well. Out of the loop that is.

1940: Ibrox is rammed, the Emirates is also a full house, but there are a raft of empty seats at Dynamo. It is 2140 local time in Kiev. Hopefully the Manchester United kit man packed the gloves.

1937: Sparta have found things a bit harder in the Champions League having won one and lost one. Last time out they were hammered 4-2 at Sevilla and have won just one of their last three on the road.

1934: What of Arsenal's opponents, Slavia Prague. The Gunners have already downed their city rivals Sparta this season, but this lot could be a bit trickier. They are top of the table at home and have won their last two matches without conceding.

1929: Talking of Dynamo, that was one of the words used in the final of the national Scrabble championships at the weekend. A Scot, Paul Allan, won. Could be tough to get some of the other words in like Equids... or maybe not. That's the family name for any hoofed animal by the way.

1925: Back to Kiev and they are off the pace domestically as well as in Europe. They are third in Ukraine's top flight and the weekend win over Zakarpattia was their first at home in four games.

1921: FULL-TIME CSKA Moscow 1-2 Inter Milan
Serie A leaders Inter go top of Group G. Having been a goal down to Jo's first-half strike, they completed a come back with efforts from Hernan Crespo and that ludicrous Walter Samuel header that spun through the keeper like a Shane Warne effort through a flimsy forward prod.

"With Scholes out I'm hoping Anderson will show his talents. A win tonight and qualification is in the bag!"
Matt, via text on 81111

1916: A bit of a scoop for you. The BBC's not one for outlandish predictions, but Air Asia's in-flight magazine is. Manchester United are going to win the Champions League this season. An article hailing their Community Shield win was headed "One down, three to go". So, since the Red Devils have already crashed out of the Carling Cup by a process of elimination that means they will nab... drum roll please... the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

1912: Not far from Moscow - well 474 miles to be precise, but these things are relative - Manchester United are preparing to take on Dynamo Kiev. Looks like three points in the bag there for Sir Alex Ferguson's team. The hosts have yet to win in Group F and United are yet to concede.

1907: GOAL CSKA Moscow 1-2 Inter Milan
Whoopsy-daisies. Home keeper Veniamin Mandrykin drops an absolute clanger and fails to stop a Walter Samuel header from Luis Figo's in-swinging free-kick. Just 10 minutes left on the clock in Moscow.

1904: It's the first time Rangers and Barcelona have met in European competition and BBC Radio 5 Live are there. Mike Ingham and Alan Green are the men behind the mic with Pat Nevin giving the expert comment.

1901: Barca's weekend defeat stopped a run of eight consecutive wins. Rangers go into the game on a Champions League record run of eight matches unbeaten.

"Never mind about Barca's fabled attack, what on earth do they plan on doing to combat the slaloming runs of the Scottish Cafu, Alan Hutton?"
Jamie Lafferty, Ayr, via text on 81111

1857: Barcelona may have a galaxy of star names in their XI, but they did lose at the weekend. The 3-1 reverse at Villarreal was their first defeat of the season and they blamed it on 'Fifa-flu' - a debilitating illness picked up through copious amounts of travel during interntaional weeks.

"I'm glad to see Rangers going for it, but 4-4-2 is far too cavalier for my liking. I fear the worst against a team of Barca's calibre."
Bob McInroy, Glasgow, via text on 81111

1854: TEAM NEWS Arsenal v Slavia Prague
Theo Walcott starts in attack after his cameo at the weekend. Eduardo is the man to make way.

1847: TEAM NEWS Dynamo Kiev v Manchester United
Nemanja Vidic is back in the heart of the Manchester United defence, John O'Shea comes into the midfield in place of the injured Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo replaces Nani.

1845: TEAM NEWS Rangers v Barcelona
Rangers name the same side that beat Celtic at the weekend. The Spaniards include Thierry Henry and there's a rare start for Eidur Gudjohnsen.

"Glad Novo has kept his place as I think he will score tonight. My prediction is Gers 2-2 Barca."
Big Joe, Glasgow, via text on 81111

1844: First things first and a formal apology that 606 is well and truly knackered tonight. That means for any comments and that sort of thing, dig out the phone and send us a text on 81111. Second things second, where's that team news?

1842: Arsenal, Manchester United and Rangers are all hoping to stretch their 100% records tonight aqnd one more win will put them on the verge of qualifying for the knockout phase. Indeed, last season Celtic and Lille qualified for the second part of the Champions League with nine points.

1840: It's what they call 'Match Day Three' in the group stages of the Champions League and things are beginning to take shape - and a pretty nice shape at that for the three British teams in action.
