France international Franck Ribery has joined German club Bayern Munich on a four-year deal from Marseille. Bayern are reported to have paid an initial �17m for the 24-year-old - and have also unveiled Italian Luca Toni, who joins from Fiorentina for �7.4m.
Ribery, who came to the fore at the 2006 World Cup, had been linked with several clubs including Arsenal.
Marseille chairman Pape Diouf said: "We've helped Franck to get where he is - we're not happy to let him go."
But he added: "It's a good financial operation for the club, which proves Marseille can adapt to a market that is not easy."
Ribery joined Marseille in 2005 and scored 11 goals in 60 appearances for the French club.
He has played 18 matches for France, scoring two goals.
Toni was a World Cup winner with Italy last year and his previous clubs include Modena, Treviso, Vicenza, Brescia and Palermo.
