Zenden struggled with injuries at Liverpool |
Marseille have signed midfielder Boudewijn Zenden on a free transfer. The former Liverpool player, 30, was released by the Anfield outfit after playing in the Champions League final defeat against AC Milan in May.
Zenden, who has represented Holland 54 times but has not worn national colours since September 2004, has signed a two-year deal at the French club.
Prior to playing for Liverpool he turned out for PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Chelsea and Middlesbrough.
He made just 47 appearances and scored two goals for Liverpool in a two-year stint on Merseyside hampered by injuries.
And in that time the predominantly left-sided midfielder made just 30 starts, 14 of which were in Europe.
Zenden is set to be joined at Marseille, who qualified for this season's Champions League after finishing second in Ligue One last term, by former Reds team-mate Djibril Cisse.
