Le Guen confident of Euro victory
Rangers manager Paul Le Guen
Paul Le Guen said the Rangers fans could spur the team to victory
Rangers manager Paul Le Guen believes the fans can roar his side to victory against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the last 32 of the Uefa Cup.

The Ibrox side will travel to Israel for the first leg on 14 or 15 February, with a game in Glasgow a week later.

"It could have been worse, but it could have been better too. It is far away, it is a long journey," said Le Guen.

"I'm confident. It's important to play the second game at home. We'll have the support of our fans."

Le Guen's side will be in confident mood when they travel to the 15,700-seat Bloomfield stadium in Tel Aviv.

The Ibrox side have already defeated Israeli opposition in this year's tournament when they beat Maccabi Haifa 2-0 at Ibrox in the group stages.

Hapoel finished behind Panathinaikos and Paris St Germain and ahead of Rapid Bucharest and Czech outfit Mlada Boleslav in their group.

Le Guen said his side would not underestimate the Israelis.

"I know they are able to do well. They won against Paris St Germain 4-2 in Paris and that is a sign of the value of this team," he said.

"We have time to learn about this team and we will watch games and videos.

"It is so important for us, we will have the support of our fans for the second game.

"That is why it was important to finish first in our group."

Rangers striker Dado Prso was also confident the Ibrox side could progress to the last 16 of the competition.

"I think we are the favourites and we will try to do our job," said the Croatian.

"I am happy with the draw. We have already played against Maccabi and we know the football they play in Israel.

"We could have had worse and we are satisfied."

If Rangers prevail against Hapoel, they will meet the winners of the Bordeaux v Osasuna tie in the last 16.
