Mark Fotheringham has been a season in Germany |
Former Celtic and Dundee midfielder Mark Fotheringham wants to leave Freiburg after failing to make a single start this season for the German side. "It doesn't matter what league you are in, if you are not playing, there's no point," said the 22-year-old, who has had a training spell with Bolton.
"Everything else about Freiburg has been perfect for me.
"But I've told the coach, Volker Finke, I'm unhappy at not playing and that I want to leave."
Fotheringham, who made just three appearances for Celtic, had two seasons with Dundee before leaving for Freiburg last summer.
"I'm in the best shape of my life and have learned so much being in Germany," he said.

"Volker would be happy for me to stay for the final year of my contract, but he knows I'm too good just to be sitting around.
"I know what I can offer the team, but Volker has preferred a more defensive midfielder.
"I've only had about 10 sub appearances. But, despite that, the fans have taken to me in a big way and that's been fantastic.
"We finished fourth last sason and narrowly missed out on promotion back to the top flight.
"There are German and Swiss clubs interested, while England is also a possibility. I was training with Bolton recently.
"There's nothing from the SPL at the minute and my wages could be a problem.
"But I still wouldn't rule out a return home for a season or two."
