AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his side were fortunate to reach the Champions League final after narrowly beating PSV Eindhoven on away goals. He said: "We're very lucky - and grateful - to be in the final. It was a huge battle against a very good team.
"PSV will be a standout team in the Champions League in the next few years.
"We were very scared when we were 2-0 down. But the most important thing about my squad is that even when they were down they kept playing."
"They played a very good game and we only had one chance but that was enough," added Milan's Jaap Stam.
"PSV dominated the game for almost 90 minutes and that is not the way we need to play."
Ancelotti revealed his tactical plan had been for Milan to score an away goal, but he had not expected to have to wait until stoppage time for its arrival.
"Our plan was to score one goal ... unfortunately this time we had to wait a lot for it," said Ancelotti.
