Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez has accused Chelsea of lacking ambition after his side won the first leg of their Champions League tie 2-1. "The only team that played football was us," the Mexican said after helping his side come from behind at the Nou Camp.
"When a team just waits for their opponents or the referee to make a mistake then it makes you angry.
"Everyone had talked about super Chelsea before the game, but I didn't see anything super out there."
Chelsea took the lead through a Juliano Belletti own goal before Didier Drogba was sent off and Barca bounced back, enjoying the lion's share of possession and a vital advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 8 March.
And the Premiership leaders also failed to impress the Spanish media, which supported Marquez's comments.
"It is very sad that a team has spent over 300m euros on new players to play like that," said sports daily El Mundo Deportivo.
Marca's Julian Ruiz agreed: "You have to celebrate the triumph of football over an indigestible and paranoid iron curtain vision of the game."
And Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been widely criticised for his conduct before and after the match, when he refused to speak to the media.
"Mourinho tried to wind up Barca and Frank Rijkaard (Barcelona boss) with his pre-match declarations and tactics," said Sport.
"But Frank didn't take the bait and with his usual cool and elegance he avoided a clash with the Portuguese.
"He said he preferred to do his talking on the pitch and he did just that."
The sports daily Marca described Mourinho as the "King of the Cold War".
