Rangers manager Alex McLeish declared himself pleased with his side's performance despite the 1-0 defeat by Inter Milan in the San Siro. "We needed a good performance and the players did well," he said.
"I thought the back four were excellent - Julien Rodriguez was superb, he showed his Champions League experience.
"I can't believe Pizarro meant to put the free kick under the wall for the goal, but whether we deserved a point is for others to decide."
Peter Lovenkrands came close to scoring early in the first half for Rangers and McLeish conceded that would have given his side a huge lift.
"It was a great run by Peter and a great ball in and that would have given us a fantastic platform to set our stall out from," he added.
McLeish was unhappy with the referee's performance, saying he gave the Italians everything, and he was particularly displeased with his decision to award a penalty for Ronald Waterreus' challenge on Julio Cruz.
"It was an unfair decision because you could see Ronald got a touch on the ball from the dugout," he said.
McLeish was unsure how to react when told of Artmedia Bratislava's incredible 3-2 win away to Porto in Rangers' group.
"It's a phenomenal result for Artmedia. Considering they've been labelled a pub team in Scotland, it's amazing and it will have surprised all of Europe," he added.
"It probably makes it tougher for us. We'll have to win in Glasgow and take something in Bratislava to ensure a European place after Christmas at the very least.
"But we still have a good chance of doing that and that's got to be a big target for Rangers."
Inter coach Roberto Mancini felt Wednesday night's results gave Rangers a good chance of finishing second in the group.
"Although we've only played two games, having beaten Porto, Rangers have a big chance of qualifying," he said.
"But who'd have thought Artmedia would beat Porto?"
Mancini was certain his side deserved the victory, though he was slightly concerned that they failed to convert their chances.
"Aside from the penalty we had two or three super chances and we didn't put them away," he said.
"As a result we couldn't relax and you can always be caught out by a corner-kick or a free-kick.
"They gave us a few problems in the first-half, but I thought after the break we totally dominated."
