Valencia chief backing Ranieri

After a good start, Ranieri's team have gone into free-fall
Valencia president Juan Batista Soler has slammed his players after their run of poor form continued, but says it is not the fault of coach Claudio Ranieri.

After starting the season well, a 1-0 loss to Getafe made it nine games without a win for the league champions.

"It hurts me to see these players claim they play for Valencia," he told Spanish station Radio Nou.

"The coach has done the right thing, picking the players any fan would pick. He's not the one who scores the goals."

Last season Valencia did the double of Spanish league and Uefa Cup, but they are currently 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona, out of the Spanish Cup and struggling in the Champions League.

"This is just a bad run, although it is incredible that it has lasted for so long," said former Chelsea coach Ranieri.

"I will continue fighting, I won't be giving up and I hope the players will join me as we have got to get out of this situation as soon as possible."
