Michael Owen has been told by Real Madrid boss Mariano Garcia Remon he has to bide his time on the bench. "I now have faith in two players and they are Ronaldo and Raul - and Owen has to understand that," Remon told the Spanish club's website.
"We consider him to be extremely important to the future of Real Madrid, and sometimes the future comes little by little."
He added: "I think him scoring for England was very good for him."
Owen has barely figured for Real since his switch from Liverpool in the summer and failed to shine when he started for the injured Ronaldo against Deportivo la Coruna recently.
But he headed in England's winner against Azerbaijan on Wednesday and was given a vote of confidence by Real's sporting director Emilio Butragueno.
