Barca blow for Real
Barcelona players celebrate their victory
Giovanni van Bronkhorst leads the Barcelona celebrations
Barcelona put a dent in Real Madrid's Spanish League title hopes with a 2-1 win on Sunday.

It was Barcelona's first victory at the Santiago Bernabeu for seven seasons and means Real stay second behind Valencia.

Xavi Hernandez scored the Barca winner four minutes from time with a glorious right-footed volley.

Santiago Solari gave Real the lead on 53 minutes before Patrick Kluivert levelled it four minutes later with his first touch having come off the bench.

Barca have now gone 16 games unbeaten and the run has taken them to just four points behind Real and five off top spot.

Real Madrid winger Luis Figo, a former Barca player was sent off after 68 minutes after a foul on Carles Puyol - a decision which changed the game.

Real had the best first-half opportunities including Raul hitting the post with a header.

Solari, a replacement for the injured Ronaldo broke the deadlock with a clinical left-foot shot from the edge of the area after Roberto Carlos had laid off a David Beckham corner.

However, Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard sent on Luis Enrique and Patrick Kluivert and the substitutions paid dividents.

Giovanni van Brockhorst's long ball caught out the Real defence and Kluivert scored before an imperious flick on the edge of the area from Ronaldinho freed Xavi to score with time running out.

The result adds to the pressure on Real coach Carlos Queiroz.
