Gullit won his first league title as a player with Feyenoord

Gullit is currently in charge of the country's under-19s but needs clearance from the Dutch Football Association (KNVP) before taking up his new post.

"I always wanted to work as coach of Feyenoord," said Gullit, who also played for the Dutch giants. "The KNVP knows that as well, so I do not expect that they will deprive that chance to me."

Gullit is expected to assist national coach Dick Advocaat during the European Championship finals in Portugal this year before he takes over his new charges at Feyenoord.

Feyenoord released technical director Rob Baan last week and also announced that coach Bert van Marwijk would leave the club after this season.

They currently lie fourth in the Dutch league, nine points behind leaders Ajax.

Feyenoord have also appointed Willem II Tilburg coach Mark Wotte as technical manager and he will start immediately.
