Cuper led Inter to last season's Champions League semi-finals |
Inter Milan have appointed Alberto Zaccheroni as their new coach after sacking Hector Cuper. Cuper had been under intense pressure since the club's defeat to rivals AC Milan two weeks ago and a 2-2 draw with Brescia on Saturday sealed his fate.
The Argentine coach's assistants Oscar Armando Cavallero and Juan Manuel Alfano have also left the club.
Former AC Milan and Lazio coach Zaccheroni will take charge from Wednesday the club website confirmed.
A club statement read: "The club would like to thank Hector Cuper and his assistants Oscar Armando Cavallero and Juan Manuel Alfano.
"The team to play against Lokomotiv Moscow in the third round of Champions League matches [on Wednesday] will be led by Corrado Verdelli."
Inter, last season's Champions League semi-finalists, are currently sixth in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Juventus.
They finished second behind Juve last season, taking the club's Serie A barren spell to 14 years.
Before taking over at Inter, Cuper led Spanish side Valencia to consecutive Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001.
