Greece coach Otto Rehhagel will keep his job, despite the European champions' early exit at Euro 2008.
The German coach led Greece to an improbable victory at Euro 2004 and is under contract for another two years.
"We will continue together until 2010," said Greek Football Federation president Vassilis Gagatsis.
"He's the architect of Greece's biggest sporting success. It's very easy to change coach but support and lasting confidence forged this team."
Greece lost their opening game to Sweden 2-0 and the title defence collapsed with a 1-0 loss against Russia.
But Gagatsis defended the German coach ahead of Wednesday's final match at Euro 2008, against Spain in Group D.
"We're not looking for excuses. We played badly in the first game and were unlucky in the second," conceded Gagatsis.
"Our aim now is to help the team make a fresh start and be ready for World Cup qualifying."
