Seedorf misses Dutch opener
Clarence Seedorf
It was feared Seedorf would miss Euro 2004
Holland midfielder Clarence Seedorf has been ruled out of his side's opening Euro 2004 game against Germany on 15 June by a hamstring injury.

Seedorf picked up the injury during Saturday's 1-0 friendly defeat against the Republic of Ireland in Amsterdam.

A second MRI scan revealed the damage and Seedorf will not be able to train for five days although Holland have no plans to call up a replacement.

Coach Dick Advocaat said: "I am sure I cannot use him for at least a week."

It was originally feared the 28-year-old would miss Euro 2004 altogether after he limped off after 15 minutes of Saturday's warm-up game.

He now faces a race against time to be fit for Holland's other Group D games against the Czech Republic on 19 June and Latvia on 23 June.
