| Marks out of 10 for the England players in the 6-1 win against Iceland at the City of Manchester Stadium.Paul Robinson: Coped well with the few moments of danger on his first England start. Blameless as defensive failings denied him a clean sheet. Gary Neville: An improved display. Whipped in an early cross to lay on a golden chance for Paul Scholes and superbly set up Wayne Rooney's goal. Sol Campbell: The Arsenal centre-back was rarely called upon but played a part in the defensive breakdown for Iceland's goal. Jamie Carragher: An able deputy for John Terry. Seldom tested by a weak Icelandic attack but made a couple of timely interventions. Ashley Cole: Gave England an added dimension whenever he went forward down the left, as he had done against Japan. David Beckham: Looked to get involved at every opportunity but the England captain was not at his most influential. Paul Scholes: Wasted a golden chance to end his England goal-drought early on, but supplied a string of dangerous passes - and set up Lampard's goal. Steven Gerrard: Played one superb long ball for Ashley Cole but this was not one of his customary all-action displays. Frank Lampard: Looked much happier free from the constraints of the midfield diamond. Missed a simple header but made amends with a deflected goal. Wayne Rooney: After a below-par display against Japan, he boosted his confidence with a clinical first goal and a brilliant long-range second. Michael Owen: Had a fine strike harshly ruled out for offside but several times his touch let him down. SubstitutesWayne Bridge (replaced Ashley Cole, 45 mins): Looked impressive going forward down the left and finished his goal well. Ledley King (replaced Sol Campbell, 45 mins): Had a fine header cleared off the line and made one good near-post interception. Phil Neville (replaced Gary Neville, 45 mins): Sent in one good cross but did not get forward as well as his brother had done. Joe Cole (replaced Paul Scholes, 45 mins): Saw a lot of action and had some nice touches, but fluffed a simple chance and sometimes did too much. Owen Hargreaves (replaced David Beckham, 45 mins): His well struck shot set up Vassell's goal but he twice made bad defensive mistakes. Nicky Butt (replaced Steven Gerrard, 45 mins): Unlikely to steal Lampard's starting place against France on this showing, although his cross led to Bridge's goal. Kieron Dyer (replaced Frank Lampard, 45 mins): Used his pace to good effect with one great break and cross which Joe Cole should have buried. Emile Heskey (replaced Michael Owen, 45 mins): Showed the added dimension his height can bring to the England attack with a flicked header to set up Bridge's goal. Also laid on Vassell's second. Darius Vassell (replaced Wayne Rooney, 45 mins): A fortunate first goal from the fit-again Aston Villa striker but there was no luck about his second, a sweet 20-yard curler into the corner. Ian Walker (replaced Paul Robinson, 61 mins): Had almost nothing to do. Could only watch as Eidur Gudjohnsen's fierce drive shaved the crossbar.
Jermain Defoe (replaced Jamie Carragher, 84 mins): Six minutes was scant consolation for the Tottenham striker, who is only on standby for Euro 2004.
