 | BULGARIA 0-2 DENMARK |
Bulgarian coach Plamen Markov was furious with referee Lucilio Batista for not punishing a foul on Zdravko Lazarov that could have led to a goal. He said: "In both our matches the referee has been against us.
"He could have given us a penalty against Sweden before they scored, and again this time he was against us.
"The way we played in the second half we did not deserve to lose to such a result, but we knew the Danes were a class side and they showed it."
Stilian Petrov was was sent-off late on when he recieved a second yellow card.
Markov added: "I was not happy with the attitude of my players at the end, the captain getting sent off. It was not a professional thing to do."
But, despite Bulgaria rarely threatening the Denmark goal as they tamely went out of the competition, Markov defended his team's tactics.
"We should have been more defensive in the first game," he said, referring to the 5-0 drubbing by Sweden.
"The tasks given to the players were the same, that was my instruction anyway.
"I know Sweden and Denmark very well and they wait for their chance to score on the counter-attack. So there was always that danger if we were too adventurous."
