Kinnear and Brown clashed during Hull's 1-0 third-round replay victory
Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear and Hull City boss Phil Brown have been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.
The pair were sent to the stands by referee Phil Dowd following a touchline clash during their FA Cup third-round replay at St James' Park on 14 January.
They squared up to each other after a late challenge by Newcastle's Fabio Coloccini on Hull's Daniel Cousin.
Kinnear and Brown have until 3 February to respond to the charges.
Speaking about the incident after the game, Kinnear said: "He [Brown] came across. He was having a rant, more than anything.
I don't know whether my reputation precedes me, but if you look at the video, what I did do was stand my ground

"He didn't actually say anything to me, he was having a rant at [my assistant] Chris Hughton and he wasn't saying too many pleasant things to him.
"I just said 'enough', that's all I said. I don't know what the trouble was with the ref.
