Kinnear has guided Newcastle to a six-match unbeaten run
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear said his side deserved a change in fortune after Damien Duff's last-gasp goal gave them a 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
Substitute Duff played a one-two with Mark Viduka on the edge of the area before slotting in with less than a minute left of the match.
"In our last two home games (Wigan and Stoke) we've conceded late goals," said manager Kinnear.
"We deserved our luck. It was a terrifically well-taken goal."
Kinnear, whose side is unbeaten in six games, added: "The build-up to the goal displayed the type of skilful player Viduka is and then Duff showed his electric legs."
Newcastle took the lead through Charles N'Zogbia, with goalkeeper Shay Given praised by Kinnear for the way he found the Frenchman with a long punt downfield.
"It was a wonderful assist for the first goal from Shay," said the Magpies boss. "But he works hard on all aspects of his game, day in, day out."
Spurs equalised through Luka Modric, capitalising on a long ball from Michael Dawson who had dispossessed Shola Ameobi.
Manager Harry Redknapp said he was "bitterly disappointed" his team did not come away with at least a point.
"The game was there for us to win at half-time and I certainly would have taken a point," he said.
"To get beaten like we did in injury time was a big blow. We had the chances and kept the ball well but we were hit by a sucker punch. In our position you have to pick up points.
"We were the better team in the first half and had we taken the game by the scruff of the neck we could have killed them off."
