Tony Adams has been in charge at Portsmouth since October
Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has described Blackburn Rovers' decision to sack manager Paul Ince as "spineless".
Blackburn chairman John Williams dispensed with the former England midfielder after just 21 games.
Adams said: "I like Paul a tremendous amount and I was gutted for him. That the man who employed him can sack him as quickly as that is spineless.
"Ince is a good man and you are in danger of killing the coaches in this country. I was very angry."
Blackburn slumped to second bottom in the Premier League under Ince and his team only won three of 17 matches.
Williams explained the decision to make a change, saying: "Of course I feel for Paul Ince. I can't quite put my finger on what went wrong but in the end the table told the story.
"People have criticised me for not giving him enough time but he did have the best part of half a season and the gap between us and the rest of the Premier League was growing all the time."
But Adams, who only took over at Fratton Park in October, insisted: "I have seen them go out of the game very quickly - the Bryan Robsons and Glenn Hoddles. Great coaches who could be utilised, who could be helping people.
"You don't get a chance to build, you don't get a chance to do anything. You do a few press conferences, throw a team out there for two minutes. It is just ridiculous."
Portsmouth only took one point from Adams' first three games but since then they have only lost one of six Premier League games.
He added: "As you go into a new job, it is different. You have to find your position in the club and your role in the club and your responsibilities and that takes a bit of time."
