Redknapp admires Republic of Ireland international Dunne
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in signing Manchester City defender Richard Dunne.
Dunne, 28, is expected to leave City this summer and has been linked with various clubs, with Tottenham believed to be favourites to seal a 5m deal.
But Redknapp told BBC Radio Five Live on Saturday: "I like Dunne. He's a top player and I think there's a couple of clubs in for him at the moment.
"But I think we've got as good a chance as anyone now."
Redknapp won the first major trophy of his career this season when he led Portsmouth to FA Cup glory and he is hoping the prospect of European football will tempt him to Fratton Park.
"We've got in the Uefa Cup for next year and we've got some good players so hopefully we can start to compete with the Tottenhams and the Villas and teams like that," he said.
Newcastle, Aston Villa and Sunderland are the other Premier League clubs believed to be interested in the Republic of Ireland international centre-back.
Redknapp also insists there has been no contact with Peter Crouch, despite reports on Saturday linking him with the Liverpool striker who is now believed to be available for 10m.
