Jasontodd99 on 606
1813: Right I'm off. Keep a look out for those 11-minute penalty run ups here in the future and do not, I repeat, do not repeat Nicolas Anelka's miss at any level. Even if it's in the back garden with the kids. Ciao.
1810: A nice example of how contrasting two matches can be. Liverpool walk it against Bolton after a howler of a miss by Nicolas Anelka and Birmingham sneak a barnstorming game with a superb strike from Sebastian Larsson.
Well worth a watch on Match of the Day 2 tonight at 2200 on BBC Two.
1804: Player rater from the Tottenham v Birmingham game has the sent-off Robbie Keane as the star man with 7.72. Younes Kaboul only chalked up 4.78. No wonder he was subbed at half-time. You can still give it your two-penneth worth, if you're on the interweb.
1756: Full-time Tottenham 2-3 Birmingham.
What a way to introduce yourself to the Premier League. Take a bow Alex McLeish. The game turned on Robbie Keane's sending off but credit Birmingham with the balls to go for it near the end.
1755: If this was in Italy that is what you'd call a Golazzo! Great strike and what a comeback for Blues.
1752:GOAL Tottenham 2-3 Birmingham
Spoke too soon, what a goal by Sebastian Larsson who hits a long range shot which peels into the top corner. It is a dream start for Alex McLeish!
1749: What a chance for Birmingham! Olivier Kapo smashes a cross into Mikael Forsell who sticks out a boot and watches as his shot clips the bar. Could have been a dream start for Alex McLeish.
1748: Surely Birmingham should be going for it? Then again, I would imagine both teams would settle for a point now and it shows. The tempo has really gone out of the game since Robbie Keane's red card.
1744: Spurs still seem to be on top despite being down to 10 men.
1737: Player rater from the Liverpool v Bolton game has Fernando Torres as the star man with 8.63. Bolton's El-Hadji Diouf was the worst, in your opinion, with 3.27. You can still join in by following the link below.
1731: Was the decision for Keane's sending off more to do with the fact that referee Phil Dowd was barely three yards away from the tackle? A striker's challenge if ever there was one.
1729:RED CARD - Robbie Keane
After scoring twice the Spurs favourite is sent off after a bad challenge on Fabrice Muamba. It was a late one but not sure if it was red.
1727: "Feed the Fors and he will score" sing the Birmingham fans as Mikael Forssell comes onto the pitch to replace Daniel De Ridder.
1722:GOAL Tottenham 2-2 Birmingham
Great solo goal by Cameron Jerome. The Birmingham striker takes on the last man in the Spurs' defence and smashes it left-footed past Paul Robinson.
This is turning into a good game.
1720: Right, now that it's all calmed down a bit a reminder of the half-time changes. Tom Huddlestone and Jermain Defoe have come on for Spurs replacing Younes Kaboul and Darren Bent. Seems to have worked eh?
1717: "Is today penalty day? refs are giving them away!"
q on 606
1715: Spurs are rampant. Dimitar Berbatov hits the post after the ball is passed to him by a Birmingham defender in the six-yard box. Blues need to cool the game and quickly.
1713:GOAL Tottenham 2-1 Birmingham
Robbie Keane scores his and Spurs's second within three minutes. Second-half sub Tom Huddlestone lifts the ball over the defence where Keane hits it first-time into the net.
1710:GOAL Tottenham 1-1 Birmingham
Robbie Keane hits the ball firmly into the top left-hand corner of the net from the penalty spot.
1708: Penalty for Spurs after Dimitar Berbatov is brought down.
1706: Under way again at White Hart Lane.
1705: The action resumes at White Hart Lane with the Spurs boss Juande Ramos making two changes.
1701: "Watching Spurs is like watching a team full of Basil Fawltys. Incredibly bad at their job, but at the same time incredibly funny at being bad at their job."
robbbie85 on 606
1655: Liverpool's fine win takes them above Manchester United and Manchester City into third in the Premier League. In their last three league games they have scored nine goals and conceded none.
1650: Half-time Tottenham 0-1 Birmingham
Blues, although they are playing in red, are a little fortunate to be ahead by most accounts.
1649: Full-time Liverpool 4-0 Bolton.
Liverpool's fifth win on the trot. Stroll in the park against Bolton, that game against Man Utd and the midweek Uefa Cup game must have taken it out of them.
1648: "The scoreline of 4-0 doesn't tell the full story. It's been all too easy for Liverpool."
BBC 5 Live summariser Jan Molby.
1644: Ryan Babel should have added another. His shot is cleared off the line with the keeper stranded on the deck.
1641:GOAL Liverpool 4-0 Bolton
Ryan Babel turns in the rebound after a long-range Dirk Kuyt shot is saved by Jussi Jaaskelainen.
1639: Great Maik Taylor save from a Gareth Bale free-kick. The Northern Irishman tips it round the post.
1636: "Jamie Carragher was taken off because of a bang on the ribs but after a scan he has now been given the all-clear."
BBC 5 Live reporter Alastair Yeomans
1633: Fernando Torres is replaced by Dirk Kuyt. Bet the Spaniard wishes he could stay on as there's a good chance still to score against Bolton. How many times has Torres completed a game this season?
1632: "What the hell happened to that Bolton team, that roughed up Man Utd and took all three points?"
agoonerslife-*NBG* on 606
1626:GOAL Tottenham 0-1 Birmingham
Birmingham's Gary McSheffery scores a penalty after being tripped by Tottenham's Younes Kaboul.
Apparently the run up to the penalty by McSheffery took less than 11 minutes.
1624: "That's incredible, 11 minutes to take a penalty, that's a helluva run up... "
Paul from Petts Wood via text on 81111.
Ha-ha well spotted Paul. That was supposed to be a time of 1612 not 1622 for Gerrard's goal.
1621: More good combinations from the front three for Spurs. Dimitar Berbatov slides a precise ball through to Darren Bent but Maik Taylor makes a smart save.
1613: Robbie Keane does a neat one-two with Darren Bent but then blazes over with goal at his mercy. Tottenham look the more dangerous of the two teams at White Hart Lane.
1612:GOAL Liverpool 3-0 Bolton
Steven Gerrard slots the penalty kick into the bottom left hand corner. Game over I'd say.
1611: Peter Crouch is pushed over for a Liverpool penalty.
1607: "Not sure about missing sitters, I scored an own goal sitter once, ball just needed to be headed away, I missed and it went in off my shoulder, last time i stand on the near post!"
WeAllDreamOfATeamOfCarraghers on 606
An own-goal sitter? Now there's a new concept.
1603: Underway at White Hart Lane and also Anfield. Liverpool's Peter Crouch just misses with a header within a minute of the re-start.
1556: Team news Tottenham v Birmingham
Spurs start Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent up front. Jermain Defoe on the bench after recovering from a bout of flu.
New Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has recalled goalkeeper Maik Taylor and promoted Sebastian Larsson from the bench. Striker Cameron Jerome also starts.
1552: "Glad to see Anelka still has a soft spot for Liverpool."
Augenthaler on 606
1547: Half-time Liverpool 2-0 Bolton
Just five minutes separate a moment when Bolton should have been level and them being two goals adrift. Watch Anelka's miss on Match of the Day 2 tonight on BBC Two at 2200. It will make you feel a better footballer.
1545:GOAL Liverpool 2-0 Bolton
And to rub it in for Anelka, Steven Gerrard plays a inch-perfect through ball to Fernando Torres who coolly lifts it over Jussi Jaaskelainen. A top-quality goal.
1542: Still trying to work out what Anelka was up to when he missed that open goal. It looked like he was trying to dink it in. Just pass it son. Oh dear, dear, dear.
Has anyone else missed a sitter like that in their life?
1537: Pepe Reina and Jamie Carragher collide to gift Nicolas Anelka an open goal but unbelievably he misses. Miss of the season, easy. That was Ronnie Rosenthal-esque. What do you think?
1533: Harry Kewell and Ivan Campo show each other their handbags. An Aussie and a Spaniard tussling on a wet Sunday in Liverpool. If it wasn't for the Premier League, would that ever happen?
1529: "I can't believe the Bolton fans have not taken up their full allocation of tickets. Fair enough if it was at the other end of the country but Bolton is just down from the Liverpool. Joke."
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Alan Green
1523: Some of the more noteworthy ties from the FA Cup third round draw: Aston Villa v Manchester United; Chelsea v QPR; Burnley v Arsenal; Tottenham v Reading. Unfortunately non-league Havant & Waterlooville get an away tie at Horsham or Swansea.
1517:GOAL Liverpool 1-0 Bolton
Steven Gerrard swings over a free-kick and Sami Hyypia meets the ball with a flicked header into the far corner.
1512: Shocking tackle by El-Hadji Diouf on Alvaro Arbeloa. The former Liverpool player was booked but he could easily have been sent off, think the ref's been watching that FA Cup tie at Harrogate.
1510: Don't forget the FA Cup third-round draw is live now on BBC One and on this website. Get them balls rolling lads.
1506: Full-time Harrogate Railway 2-3 Mansfield
Sterling effort from the non-league team. A proper mud and guts game there. Makes you want to go and have a game right now.
1505: Bolton's Lubomir Michalik clears a Peter Crouch effort off the line. Should have scored really.
1500: We're underway at Anfield. Let's see if Peter Crouch and Fernando Torres can get their blond highlights on the same wavelength.
1457: "To be honest, its a must win game for Spurs today. They are flirting with regulation zone at the moment, and if they are not careful, they'll get a slap round the face from relegation's beefy boyfriend. Time for some guts boys."
Romford_Rivaldo on 606
1454:GOAL Harrogate Railway 2-3 Mansfield
I know this is supposed to be about the Premier League but the FA Cup keeps on teasing. Dan Davidson scores again. Apparently Mansfield haven't won all season and they face a nervous last five minutes now.
1448:GOAL Port Vale 1-1 Chasetown
Rejoice. Just before half-time Chasetown's Mark Branch equalises for the non-leaguers. Perhaps I spoke to soon.
1447:GOAL Harrogate Railway 1-3 Mansfield
Michael Boulding scores from a cross to extend Mansfield's lead. Apparently Boulding used to be a pro tennis player. Knowledge is the bomb.
1440: Team news Liverpool v Bolton
Liverpool are to start with Peter Crouch and Fernando Torres up front for the first time in the Premier League.
Bolton's El-Hadji Diouf and Nicolas Anelka are back in the team after being rested in midweek. Danny Guthrie won't be playing because he's on loan from Liverpool. Shame.
1434: "Over Liverpool it's really windy. Our fence got blown down earlier today. Hopefully it won't hinder the Liverpool onslaught!"
John from Liverpool via text on 81111.
1430:GOAL Harrogate Railway 1-2 Mansfield
Dan Davidson comes off the bench and scores a great header to get the minnows back in the mix.
1425: "It's great to see Havant and Waterlooville in the next round draw for the FA cup - it represents all that is good about the best cup competition in the world. I hope they get a big club in the draw...we'd welcome them with open arms to Goodison Park!"
toffeeblueboy on 606
1417: Excuse me while I change competitions briefly. Non-league football has suffered a double blow as Port Vale have just gone 1-0 up against Chasetown and Mansfield have scored again versus Harrogate Railway in today's FA Cup second round ties. Might have to look elsewhere for some shocks today.
1400: Greetings. How are you this fine Sunday? It may be blue sky over London now but in the FA Cup tie between Harrogate Railway and Mansfield, it looks rotten.
No matter, with Liverpool v Bolton and Spurs v Birmingham on the way and a smattering of FA Cup ties to fill in the gaps you have no reason to feel as cold and wet as Mark Lawrenson does now on the TV.
Just stay in touch with all matters football right here. Anyone think Alex McLeish will cut it as a Premier League gaffer?
