Premier League's Richard Scudamore listens to Lord Stevens |
Lord Stevens' team investigating alleged bungs at Premier League clubs says it has made "significant progress" in its enquiries. Lord Stevens' Quest team is investigating 17 transfers involving Premiership clubs after originally looking at 362 transfers.
The Premier League has written to tell clubs the investigation is continuing.
A statement said: "Quest will report as and when they reach a more definitive position on these transactions."
Meanwhile, the Premier League board is to consider whether disciplinary action should be taken against any club who breached other transfer rules following a separate report from Stevens.
The Premier League says these potential rule breaches are not criminal in nature.
They include:
Payments by Premier League clubs direct to third parties not routed though the Fa's clearing house system Failure to disclose payments to other agents and third parties. Agents representing more than one party. Failure of Premier League clubs to enter into appropriate written agreements with agents. The terms of players' contract containing potential breaches of FA or Premier League rules. Involvement of unlicensed agents. The Premier League statement added: "The board will now take time to consider this report in full and decide on the appropriate course of action on a case-by-case basis."
