Referee Andy D'Urso has vowed to return to the Premiership with extra sharpness after serving a four-week ban. The Premier League suspended D'Urso for failing to send off Blackburn's Barry Ferguson, despite him being shown two yellow cards on 27 August.
"I have been training incredibly hard and I believe this whole situation will have made me even stronger," said the 40-year-old.
"I'm confident in my ability and I know I'm good enough to be out there."
D'Urso admitted his error in his report for Rovers' match against Southampton.
But Premier League chiefs handed him a ban for failing to impose the laws of the game.
D'Urso is now desperate to return to officiating when he takes charge of a Football League game between Rotherham and Millwall on 25 September.
"I'm itching to get back into it," D'Urso said.
"Football refereeing is what I do and I miss it badly. Saturdays have been really difficult for me.
"I made an honest mistake and have put measures in place to make sure it does not happen again."
