Man Utd 2-3 Middlesbrough
Juninho grabbed two headers for Boro against Man Utd
Manchester United suffered a shock defeat to remain five points adrift of Premiership leaders Arsenal.

A stuttering United fell behind when Juninho took advantage of an error by keeper Tim Howard to head home.

Juninho added another header from a Gaizka Mendieta cross but Ruud Van Nistelrooy gave United hope when he lashed in a shot.

The Dutchman set up Ryan Giggs to level but Joseph Desire-Job's well-struck angled shot sealed the win for Boro.

United looked out of sorts from the start and, despite Giggs and Scholes having two early shots, Middlesbrough looked the better side.

Franck Quedrue headed wide for the visitors before Juninho's first touch let him down and allowed keeper Howard to come quickly out and gather the ball.

KEY MOMENTS
34 mins: Juninho heads Boro in front
38 mins: Juninho scores again to shock Man Utd
45 mins: Van Nistelrooy pulls one back for Man Utd
63 mins: Giggs scores from close range
80 mins: Job grabs the winner for Boro

Gareth Southgate was linked with a move to United and showed why when he produced a last-ditch tackle on Giggs as the winger pulled his left-foot back to shoot.

But a spluttering home side were being denied the chance to provide their strikers with any decent service by a hard-working Boro.

And the visitors went in front when Howard failed to hold a Queudrue shot and Juninho headed in after the ball rebounded off the underside of the bar. Boro went two up to the shock of the Old Trafford crowd when a short corner caught the United defence sleeping.

Mendieta crossed into the danger area and the diminutive Juninho was allowed to flick in a header at the near post.

Scholes and Doriva brought a hush to the ground when they clashed before both camps breathed a sigh of when they escaped punishment.

United were looking uncertain in defence, but with Van Nistelrooy up front they always posed a threat and the Dutchman pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time.

van Nistelrooy's efforts proved in vain

A Giggs cross was chested down by Louis Saha and Van Nistelrooy lashed home a shot.

Defender Wes Brown came off at the interval but Boro were still a threat with Queudrue and Stewart Downing missing headers.

The visitors paid the price as United gradually built up the pressure to earn the equaliser.

Mark Schwarzer had earlier produced a fine double stop to deny Mikael Silvestre and Van Nistelrooy.

However, he could do nothing when Van Nistelrooy turned provider for Giggs who slotted in from close range.

United might have had a win on their minds but Job had other ideas as he grabbed a winner after 80 minutes to give Boro a third win in six seasons at Old Trafford.

And just to compound United's misery, substitute Diego Forlan missed a header from just three yards out in injury time.
