Gravesen angered Newcastle |
Thomas Gravesen's controversial challenge on Newcastle defender Olivier Bernard is not mentioned in under-fire referee Neale Barry's match report. Football Association chiefs are considering what action, if any, they need to take over the incident during Everton's 2-1 win over Sir Bobby Robson's side at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Barry allowed play to continue after the Danish midfielder caught the Frenchman high and late deep inside the Toffees' half.
United were incensed when, despite calls from David Moyes for his players to put the ball into touch, the attack they launched resulted in the penalty from which David Unsworth ultimately clinched victory.
Robson and his skipper Alan Shearer were furious that the official had not awarded a free-kick and dismissed Gravesen, who had already been booked.
The FA confirmed on Monday that they would await Barry's report before deciding whether there was a case to be answered.
But they have confirmed the incident was not mentioned, and now they will have to decide whether it needs to be referred to their video panel for further consideration.
"We have received the report from Neale Barry and it makes no mention of the incident," said an FA spokesman.
Newcastle have decided against making a formal complaint over an incident.
Shearer branded Gravesen's tackle a "coward's challenge", but the Everton man later hit back, insisting he would never go out to deliberately hurt an opponent.
