![]() | Thursday, 27 December, 2001, 12:04 GMT Sinclair's stunning volley ![]() BBC Sport Online's goal of the week is Trevor Sinclair's acrobatic strike against Derby. West Ham midfielder Trevor Sinclair produced a spectacular effort as West Ham thrashed Derby at Upton Park on Boxing Day. Glenn Roeder's team continued their revival with a comprehensive 4-0 victory that leaves the Rams in the Premiership's bottom three. Sinclair ended his goal drought, which had lasted exactly a year, by executing a stunning strike that is already being hailed as goal-of-the-season elect. Reminiscent The Hammers were leading 2-0 when Paolo di Canio chipped his corner to Joe Cole on the edge of the penalty area. The ball did not touch the ground as the young midfielder neatly controlled Di Canio's pass with his first touch and then swept in a cross. Sinclair supplied an amazing finish as he volleyed a bicycle-kick with power and accuracy beyond the despairing Mart Poom. The winger had scored a similar goal while at QPR. But the quality of the build up to his strike against Derby ensured his latest efort eclipsed his goal against Barnsley five years ago. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Eng Prem stories: Links to more Eng Prem stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
