Bowyer, who was cleared of all charges following an attack on a student in Leeds, is included after settling a dispute with the Elland Road club.

He had initially refused to pay a fine of four-weeks' wages imposed by the club for his drunken behaviour on the night that Sarfraz Najeib was attacked in Leeds.

The midfielder was also placed on the transfer list but has since been removed.

Woodgate was also cleared of grevious bodily harm but found guilty of affray and ordered to serve 100 hours' community service following the trial at Hull Crown Court.

But Leeds boss David O'Leary this week praised both players for their commitment in training.

Both players are now back in the United squad to face Premiership leaders Newcastle at Elland Road.

Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale thanked the Professional Footballers' Association for their role in persuading Bowyer to settle his dispute with the Yorkshire club.

He also praised the role of the player's agent and solicitor.

The midfielder had intitally refused to pay the fine, saying: "The club appears to be victimising me and forcing me out."

But PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, as well as the player's agent and lawyer, all intervened to convince Bowyer to pay his fine and stay at Leeds.

"Leeds United would like to thank Gordon Taylor, Lee's agent David Geiss and his legal adviser Steven Barker for their assistance in resolving this issue," said Ridsdale.

"A financial contribution equivalent to that previously stated has been agreed between the three parties.

"It will be put towards the club's community programme for work within inner-city communities and a local children's hospice.

"Leeds United would like to make it clear this is an internal disciplinary issue and in no way relates to the case at Hull Crown Court."
