Damian Spencer's injury-time header secured victory for Aldershot over 10-man Stockport.
Anthony Elding thought he had put the visitors ahead in the first-half, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The visitors continued to threaten in the second half but were reduced to 10 men when Alan Goodall was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Aldershot dominated from then on and grabbed a late winner when substitute Spencer nodded in Alex Rodman's cross.
Aldershot Town manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey: "There's competition for places and pressure to keep your place, but that pressure is vital for a healthy squad.
"We created chances but didn't put any real quality on the chances, and snatched at them a little.
"Our performance was better than the result today and the momentum is picking up for us now and the belief is there."
Stockport County manager Ray Mathias told BBC Radio Manchester: "I thought the players were fantastic, from the first minute to the last.
"I can't fault them for effort, they've gone in, created a few chances and at the end of the day, their substitute came on and scored against us.
"Dean Holdsworth came over to me and said we didn't deserve to lost that game - I'm gutted for the players because of the effort and commitment they put into the game."
