Joe Colbeck scored late on and secured a win for Hereford at Stevenage.
Byron Harrison went close to an opener for the home side when he saw his effort fly just over the bar.
Nicky Featherstone nearly put the visitors in front just after half-time when his drive from the edge of the area flew inches wide.
With the game heading for a draw, Colbeck fired into the top corner from long distance to clinch all three points for the visitors.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Always disappointed to lose, particularly disappointed to lose at home.
"I'm disappointed with the manner of the performance, I don't think we took enough responsibility with the football.
"I thought we made it to easy for them to defend, albeit when we got the ball down and played we built some good chances but they were too few and far between."
Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We held in there in the first half, we came under a bit of pressure, but we stuck to our task and probably had the better chances.
"I don't think there was a great deal of football played but we worked very hard away from home to get a result.
"Joe (Colbeck) has played well in the last month or so , and he was our threat and he came up with an unbelievable finish."
